The Department of Anaesthesia was established in 1982.
The department is involved in evaluating patients for anaesthetic fitness and providing anaesthetic services, maintenance of the sophisticated operation theatre complex, and management of patients in critical care units, apart from academics.
The faculty are involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of anaesthesia, intensive care, post-operative medicine (including acute pain management), chronic pain management, resuscitation, safety and quality in healthcare and related medico legal issues etc. A pain management clinic is also run by the department.

The department of Anatomy started in 1984.It is located on the first floor of the building of Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences. It has a well developed Museum, Histology Lab and Dissection Lab.

To promote knowledge of Anatomy to keep pace with rapidly changing trends in basic health sciences.
To promote application of Anatomical knowledge in clinical practice.
To trace importance and applicability of subject.
To impart basic knowledge of Anatomy to medical students.
To motivate students to have sound knowledge of Anatomy for good clinical practice.
To prepare competent post – graduate students with excellence in knowledge, research attitude and human values.

  • To elevate the standards of structural and basic knowledge of anatomy.
  • The following methods of new teaching technology are adopted:
    • Adult learning principles are incorporated in day today teaching by following methods viz. student centered teaching, small group interactive learning, problem based learning, cross sectional study and endoscopic study.
    • Correlation between microscopic structures and functional aspects of the tissues.
    • Interpretation of the anatomical basis of symptoms and signs of clinical conditions and diagnostic procedures.
  • Making PG teaching program on power point presentations.
  • Explanation of various aspects of genetics and genetic basis of disorders and principles of genetic counseling.
  • To promote research and encourage the publications by facility members.
  • To set up genetic counseling unit and embalming unit.

The department of dermatology started in 1991. The Department of Dermatology provides the most extensive undergraduate medical dermatology teaching and the broadest range of postgraduate training opportunities in Karad. Specialized investigations available in the department
