| KIMSDU’s School of Dental Sciences, proudly hosted the first of its kind interdisciplinary function on the occasion of the World Health Day on the 7th of April 2012 along with the help of Dept.of Public Health Dentistry. KIMSDU has been at the forefront of addressing issues that are important to humankind and society at large, and what theme would have been better then “Age and life course”. Dr. P. G. Diwan (Post Graduate in Oral Medicine, Diagnosis & Radiology) who has an ardent interest in geriatric dentistry, and has written a book on the subject, was the chief guest for the function. Guest speaker invited by the College of Nursing Ms. Dimple Gulbani (A teacher at Art of Living) gave an enlightening speech on age, health and relaxation techniques. In his address Dr. Varadrajulu (Principal –College of Physiotherapy) spoke about how Physiotherapy can help the in reducing the impact of aging as well as needs of geriatric patients. The Highlight of the function been how appropriate would it be for the Dental Council of India to start a special subject or topic on geriatric dentistry which will help the students be well accustomed to the topic which will translate to better oral care in geriatric patients. |
